Granite & Glaciers Backpacking

5 days backpacking, flying into the backcountry from Anchorage, AK.

This trip can accommodate just about anyone in terms of fitness and experience since we get flown in to and out from the same high mountain lake in the Talkeetna Mountains via float plane from Anchorage. Alternatively, we might fly in to and out from a high mountain pass tundra airstrip via an air charter service 2 hrs or less drive on the highway from Anchorage. Either option (float or tundra tire plane), access from the Anchorage area makes this trip relatively affordable with easy travel logistics. Yet, you’ll still get to experience some of the most wild and spectacular high alpine trekking and scenery Alaska has to offer in off-the-radar areas very few people have experienced.

Depending on client interests and abilities, this trip can be done base camp or backpacking style. As a base camp trip, we can set up near where we get flown in to and out from for day trip exploration with light packs. As a backpacking trip, we can do multi-day loops or out-and-back trips in different directions from our drop off and pickup point.

If you are an experienced, fit, and ambitious hiker this trip has nearly endless options for ridge walking, scrambling, and peakbagging non-technical summits.

If you want a mellow or family-friendly trip, Granite & Glaciers can accommodate with something for everyone. There’s even good grayling fishing in some of the lakes.
