Catcher’s Mitt & 27 Mile area

The Catcher’s Mitt and 27 Mile Peak is a classic Thompson Pass area Central Chugach backcountry zone with a lot of terrain options to accommodate different levels and types of skiers and snowboarders. With a relatively high elevation starting point near Thompson Pass proper (2678′), it’s one of the best early and late season riding destinations. It often has a good base for skiing and snowboarding by late October, and almost always by mid November. It can hold good solar aspect corn and northerly spring pow well into May.
